Menjangan Island
Menjangan Island is a small island located between 2 villages, Pejarakan and Sumberklampok – Buleleng Regency – Bali.
From Ngurah Rai Airport to Menjangan Island approximately 4 hours travel and 30 minutes from Gilimanuk Harbor. Menjangan Island is part of West Bali National Park conservation area, it is more known as Menjangan Island West Bali Nationa Park

How to get to Menjangan Island?
To get to Menjangan island you have to go by a boat. Boat to Menjangan Island approximately 30 minutes either from Banyuwedang or Labuhan Lalang Harbor.
Menjangan Island offers pristine white sandy sand and is a very popular diving or snorkeling spot among diving enthusiasts in the world. Menjangan Snorkeling spot or Menjangan diving spot.
As a conservation area, Menjangan Island has a very famous underwater world with mesmerizing crystal clear water, colourful coral reefs and from majestic turtles until hundred of tropical fishes.
The area of Menjangan Island is about 175 hectares, the island is uninhabited, the island also knows home for wild Javan deer (in Bahasa called Menjangan deer, the name given by local population) because many wild javan deers stay on the island for long time ago. The wild java deers is very friendly you were able to sit just next to them and you can meet them on the beach after snorkeling or diving trip.
The waters around Menjangan Island have three interconnected ecosystems: seagrass beds, coral reefs, and mangrove forests. The exceptionally clear water and diverse marine life make tourism activities, particularly snorkeling and diving, thrive in this area. There are 11ndive sites scattered around the island, such as : POS I, Mangrove Point, Blue Corner, Under water cave, Pos 2, Bat Cave, Temple Point, Coral Garden, Sandy Sloope, Eel Garden, Anchor Wreck.
On this island, wall diving is famous, which involves diving to depths following the underwater cliff paths. This is due to the underwater contour of Menjangan Island, which is mostly in the form of cliffs. The presence of these underwater cliffs creates a difference in the water color around Menjangan Island. Shallow waters (3-6 meters) have a bright green color, while deeper waters (more than 10 meters) tend to be dark blue.
The beauty of the underwater world at Menjangan Island is very distinctive and different compared to other places. In addition to having cliffs, this island also features underwater caves that serve as habitats for the growth of soft corals starting from a depth of 10 meters. The underwater visibility can reach up to 50 meters in good weather, and the currents, which are not too strong, are ideal for snorkeling or diving activities. In these waters, you can find various colorful fish and corals, such as Angle fish, Clown fish, Bat fish, Moray eel, Nudibranch, Sea fans, Anemone, Sponge coral, and many more.
In addition to its beautiful beaches and enchanting coral reefs Menjangan Island is adorned with Hindu temples, people usually visit during Hindu holidays. These temples are not only rich in history but also showcase stunning architecture. In total, there are eight temples to explore:

You cannot visit Menjangan Island independently as it as part of the protected National Park, so you need to organise the trip with a company as a park guide needs to be with you an entrance fee to enter the island need to be paid. The entrance fee to Menjangan Island IDR 200,000 per person on normal day and IDR 300,000 per person on Indonesia Public Holidays or Sundays.
Menjangan Island snorkeling site
Pos I
Pos I is main entrance to Menjangan Island, the spot is amazing. Here you can relax by the long white sandy beach or walk a short trek to Klenting Sari Temples. Post I offers beautiful spots for taking pictures. There are some gazebos available for visitors to enjoy meals and drinks whether romantic lunch, snacks or cup of coffee after the activities.
Pos I has two sites, they are The Jetty Left side & The Jetty Right side. The Jetty Left side is for beginner to snorkel; snorkelers are allowed to start from beach, it is shallow site around 1 up to 2 meters depths and walls site around 3 up to 10 meters depths. The site offers various types of coral reef, soft coral and fishes.
The Jetty Right side for DSD (Discover Scuba Diving) that mean for beginner diver with no licence. The place has white sandy bottom around 2 up to 3 meters depths and sloped site, good for beginner diver to practise.
Mangrove Point
Mangrove Point is around 10 to 15 minutes by wooden boat from the pos I, this site has many mangroves on the island with long and landscape views. The site is home to tons of reef fishes and colorful coral.
Under Water Cave
Under water Cave site around 7 minutes by wooden boat from Mangrove point, its place is so amazing for free dive, deep dive and always nice for snorkelling. The under water cave mostly a drop walls site, and there is cave around 10 meters depths and 3m x 4m large which is home to special electric claims.
Walls site around 3 up to 35 meters deeps, it is allowed for diver with advance licence to do deep dive. Those hold aida level 1-4 (free dive licence) are also allowed. Under water cave offers ton of fishes between shallow site and walls site.
Pos II
Pos II is the most popular dive site on Menjangan island. It is also the closest to Bali mainland. Pos II is second entrance gate to Menjangan Island. This place has short jetty & small beach; This is a place nice for break time, short trek or visiting temples. Sometimes we can see deer come to this place for drinking sea water and finding a food from visitor.
Spot Bat Cave
Bat Cave site is the entrance of shallow caves occupied with hundreds of resting bats. Bat Cave has two sites the best landscape on all Menjangan Island. Temple point starts at the feet of a huge Ganesh statue on top cliff and Pos II the jetty right site at the shallow site to drop of walls site. Mostly this site better for Adventure Dive & Deep Dive

Spot Coral Garden
The Coral Garden is one of the most rich and biodiverse regions of Menjangan Island. If you’re lucky, you can meet the blacktip sharks! The magnificent coral reef in The Coral Garden also shelters numerous varieties of clownfish hiding in the anemones (white, green, and blue). Meanwhile, the number of small fish and crustaceans that surround the coral reef will continue to be around you for hours.
Monitor the deep side of the sea, because sometimes large fish also cross the tip of the coral reef, including reef sharks, tuna, and stingrays. The Coral Garden is accessible to divers of all levels. This spot is also ideal for underwater photography.
Spot Sandy Slope
The Sandy slope around 7 minutes from Coral Garden , this site has long slop in bottom. The sandy slope mostly for beginner dive since this site has sandy bottom around 2 up to 3 meters depths, it’s very clear and you will enjoy to learn dive skill without being worried about touching coral reefs.
Spot Dream Wall
Dream wall is in the same direction with sandy slope. This site has beautiful wall corals. It is like your dream come true when you are snorkeling or diving around the wall. Wall site around 35 meters depts, and shallow site has multi-level step around 3 up to 6 meters depths
Spot Anchor wreck.
No-one knows the origin and name of this small wooden boat. “Anker” comes from the anchor that still lies about 6-8m from the surface. The rest lies strewn over an area of about 50 – 60m. This is the deepest dive site offered by West Bali Explorer, only for the experienced divers. We believe that the good visibility and calm conditions.
Starting the dive with the deepest point, we follow the anchor chain down to where the steep, coral-clad slope becomes sandy (approx. 30m). Here there is a second anchor and you begin to see the flattened remains of the wreck, dark against the white sand.
Spot Eel Garden.
This site named Eel Garden because of the many species of eel, however we can also see many types of coral at this site such as gorgonian sea fan coral and various tropical fish. The dive or snorkelling starts at the drop off zone. With the white sand seabed which the habitat/home of eels, you will slowly dive while looking at the coral garden. The best time to dive at this site is when the tide is high.
