At Ijen Crater, you will find a large bluish-green lake that’s about 700 meters wide and covers a vast area of 5,466 hectares. The lake is 200 meter deep with 36 million cubic meters of water. This lake was created by a volcano called Mount Ijen and is unique because of its extremely acidic nature, which can dissolve various substances.
One of the most extraordinary things about Ijen Crater is the rare Blue Fire phenomenon. In the early Morning at 05:00, sulfur gas creates mesmerizing blue flames above the lake’s surface. This magical sight can only be seen 2 in the word: Iceland and Ijen Crater Indonesia. And when the sun rises, the view is breathtaking, especially in August when the sky is clear.

Join us on an extraordinary adventure to Ijen Crater, starting from your hotel in Pemuteran or Menjangan. Our experienced driver will pick you up at 11 PM to witness the mesmerizing blue fire and at 12 AM to catch the breathtaking sunrise. Your journey begins with a comfortable private car ride to Gilimanuk Harbor, a scenic 30-minute drive. Upon arrival at Gilimanuk, the ticketing process commences, followed by 1-hour ferry crossing from Gilimanuk Harbor to Ketapang.
Upon reaching Ketapang Harbor, you will enjoy a 2-hour jeep ride from Ketapang to Ijen base camp (Paltuding) along tropical rainforests and lush plantations. At Ijen base camp/Paltuding, you can enjoy delicious breakfast and warm drinks to get yourself ready for 2-hour hike from Paltuding to the summit of Ijen (3 kilometers). To witness the stunning acidic lake and the ethereal blue fire phenomenon, you’ll descend for about 30 minutes on a slightly slippery and steep trail – please exercise caution during this part of the journey. After immersing yourself in the captivating spectacle, you’ll descend back to Paltuding, culminating your adventure around 7 AM.
